The TASIS School in Dorado is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Timothy Howard as its new Head of School as of July 15, 2015.

Dr. Howard holds a B.A. in English and Religion from Columbia University, and an Ed.M. in TESOL and Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Boston University. He has also studied at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education and the National Institute for School Leadership. With experience in both private and public schools, Tim served as a Principal for 18 years, leading the creation of a top-performing inner city school in the Boston area, recognized nationally in 2005 as a model school. Among other things, he was instrumental in developing an innovative dual-immersion bilingual program, which became the pride of the Chelsea Public School system.

A lifelong learner and educator, Dr. Howard has been an Adjunct Faculty member at Boston University, where his focus was on "teacher supervision and performance appraisal." He has served as a mentor for principal interns from Harvard University and Boston University. His broad cultural background--having lived and worked in Brazil, Africa, and Spain--make him ideally suited for TASIS Dorado.

Dr. Howard is a strong community-builder through his hands-on, collaborative management style. His communication skills, ability to listen attentively, and fluency in Spanish have enabled him to connect with students, teachers, and parents, which will be a significant asset as Headmaster of TASIS Dorado.

Finally, Dr. Howard is an avid believer in character formation, which is a cornerstone of a TASIS education. Having served as Campus Chaplain at Yale and Wesleyan Universities and taught a graduate course titled "Social and Civic Context of Education" at Boston University, Tim is an active role model for students and teachers. He has served on the Board of elite private schools in the Boston area and helped found Boston Trinity Academy. Dr. Howard brings a wealth of educational experience and leadership to TASIS Dorado, which will serve the school well during the next stage of its growth and development.
